Add to your checklist. Monthly Google Ads tasks to improve performance.

Review your Recommendations tab.

Google is pushing AI harder than ever, which means recommendations are appearing more frequently inside accounts - from bidding strategies to keyword expansion, P-Max upgrades, and automated assets.

If they sit unreviewed, your Optimisation Score drops. While this score isn’t a direct ranking factor, it does signal to Google that the account may not be actively managed which can indirectly impact performance over time (think higher CPCs, lower impression share, or missed opportunities).

Important: you do not need to accept every recommendation.

In fact, blindly applying them can hurt performance - especially when it comes to:
Broad match keyword expansion
Automatically applied assets
Budget increases without strategy
Switching to full automation too quickly

Review them.
Apply what aligns with your strategy.
Dismiss what doesn’t.

Pro tip:
Not all recommendations are equal.
Some are genuinely useful (like fixing conversion tracking or adding audiences), while others are designed to increase spend or push automation.

My rule:
Test AI in new campaigns first not inside campaigns that are already performing well.
Protect what’s working, and experiment in a controlled way.

Quick checklist:
Check recommendations weeklyFocus on tracking, audiences, and structure first
Be cautious with anything that expands reach too aggressively
Always monitor performance after applying changes
Google Ads is moving fast but strategy still wins over automation.
